Tiles or wall panels?
Tiles are strong, last a long time and come in every colour and size. Wall panels are a quick alternative: large, seamless panels that are waterproof and can often go straight over the old tiles. Fewer joints mean less cleaning and less chance of mould. We discuss with you what best suits your room and your budget.
It is time for new tiling or panels if you recognise this:

Waterproofing starts under the tile
In a shower, the surface must be waterproof before it is tiled, especially in the corners and around the drain. If that step is skipped, water will get behind the tiles after a while. That is why we waterproof the surface first and tile afterwards.

How much does tiling cost per square metre?
That depends on the size of the tiles, the surface and how much cutting is needed. We give you a quote in advance based on photos and the measurements of the room, so you know where you stand. Small repairs are charged by the hour.
Can wall panels go over the old tiles?
Often, yes, as long as the old tiles are flat and firmly attached. That saves demolition, dust and time. We check the surface first; loose or hollow tiles are removed beforehand.
Are wall panels as waterproof as tiles?
Yes. Good bathroom panels are waterproof and have no grout lines for water or dirt to soak into. The seams and corners are sealed or finished with trims. This makes them easy to keep clean.
How long does it take to tile a bathroom?
For an average bathroom, allow a few days, including drying time for the waterproofing and the adhesive. Wall panels are quicker: a shower wall is often done within a day.
Can I have just the grout renewed?
Yes. If the tiles are still in good condition but the grout is dirty or crumbling, we rake out the old grout and regrout. That is a lot cheaper than retiling.
Do I have to buy the tiles myself?
That is up to you. If you buy them yourself, you only pay for labour. Send us the size and quantity in advance and we will check whether it is enough, including waste from cutting.
