A central heating boiler heats your home and often the water for the shower and kitchen too. If it breaks down, you notice straight away. Since 1 April 2023, servicing, repairing and replacing a gas boiler may only be done by a company with a CO certificate. Klusbedrijf MSZ holds that certificate, so the work is done safely and according to the rules.
These are signs that it is time to have your boiler looked at:
You cannot smell carbon monoxide (CO). Headaches, nausea or drowsiness at home can be signs of it. If so, switch off the boiler, open the windows and doors, go outside and call 112 if anyone has symptoms. A CO alarm near the boiler is a small investment.
An older boiler is best checked every year, a modern boiler often once every two years. We clean it, adjust it and check the combustion.
No hot water, a fault code or a boiler that keeps cutting out? We find the cause and fix the fault, or tell you honestly when replacing it is the wiser choice.
An old boiler replaced with a new high-efficiency boiler, connected to the gas, water and flue, and then safely put into operation.

Not every home in Almere has a boiler. In the large residential neighbourhoods of Almere Stad and Almere Poort, such as the Muziekwijk, the Kruidenwijk and the Europakwartier, 86 to 98 per cent of the homes are on the heat network (CBS, 2024). There the heat comes through a heat unit in the meter cupboard and there is no boiler to service.
In Almere Haven and Almere Buiten it is the other way round: in neighbourhoods such as De Wierden, the Stripheldenbuurt and the Regenboogbuurt, 87 to 98 per cent of the homes use natural gas, usually for their own boiler (CBS). There we come for servicing, breakdowns and replacing the boiler.
In Almere Hout it differs from house to house. In Nobelhorst 62 per cent of the homes use natural gas, in Oosterwold 89 per cent have no gas connection (CBS). Since 2018, new homes in principle no longer get a gas connection.
Do you have district heating? Report a fault in the heat network or at the heat unit to Vattenfall (0800 0513); you may not work on the heat unit yourself. Milieu Centraal, the independent Dutch information centre on energy and the environment, advises having an older boiler cleaned and checked every year by a CO-certified installer. For modern boilers once every two years is often enough, in consultation with the installer.

Top up the boiler as described in the manual and see whether the pressure drops again within a few days. If it keeps dropping, water is probably leaking from the system, for example at a radiator, a pipe or the pressure relief valve. Call us and we will find the leak.
First check whether the water pressure is right, whether the boiler has power and whether the gas tap is open. Try resetting the boiler once with the reset button. If the fault comes back, call us and give us the fault code.
It can be worth it. Milieu Centraal recommends also considering a hybrid heat pump when getting a new high-efficiency boiler; it can bring your gas consumption down considerably. We do not install heat pumps ourselves; for servicing, breakdowns and replacing your boiler you can come to us.
