Why certification is compulsory for gas work
Since April 2023, work on gas-burning installations in the Netherlands may only be carried out by companies with the legally required certification. That applies to laying, rerouting, replacing and capping gas pipes and to connecting gas appliances. Klusbedrijf MSZ is certified for this.
So never let an uncertified odd-job worker carry out gas work. Ask every company for its certificate — us included. Also look out for these signs:
- A smell of gas, however faint
- A gas appliance that burns poorly or unevenly
- An old, rusty or damaged gas pipe
- A hissing sound at a pipe or connection
- Soot forming around an appliance or flue
- A capped pipe that has not been sealed properly
Smell gas? Do this first
No flames, no cigarettes, and do not touch light switches or plugs — a spark is enough. Turn off the gas tap, open the windows and doors and leave the house. Then, once outside, call the national gas emergency number (Nationaal Gasalarm) on 0800 9009. Call us as soon as the situation is safe.

Is anyone allowed to work on gas pipes?
No. Since April 2023, work on gas-burning installations in the Netherlands may only be carried out by certified companies. That is a legal requirement, not a quality mark. Always ask about it before you let anyone work on your gas installation.
What does laying or rerouting a gas pipe cost?
We charge €181.44 incl. VAT (€149.95 excl. VAT) for the first hour on site and after that €108.84 incl. VAT (€89.95 excl. VAT) per hour. Outside Almere there is an additional €42.35 call-out charge. Connecting an appliance or capping a pipe usually takes one to two hours. For larger pipework we give you a quote in advance.
