Why certification is compulsory for gas work
Since April 2023, certification has been a legal requirement for every company that works on gas combustion installations in the Netherlands. The requirement applies to installing, rerouting, replacing and capping off gas pipes, and also to connecting gas appliances. Klusbedrijf MSZ holds this certification.
So never leave gas work to a handyman without a certificate. Ask every company to show you its certificate, including us. Also look out for the following signs:
- A smell of gas, however faint
- A gas appliance that burns poorly or unevenly
- An old, rusty or damaged gas pipe
- A hissing sound at a pipe or connection
- Soot forming around an appliance or flue
- A capped pipe that has not been sealed properly
Smell gas? Do this first
Do not light a flame, do not smoke and do not use light switches or plugs: a single spark can be enough. Turn off the gas tap, open windows and doors and go outside. From there, call the national gas emergency number (Nationaal Gasalarm) on 0800 9009. Contact us as soon as it is safe again.
