  • ABOUT THIS SERVICE

Why ventilation matters so much

Cooking, showering and even breathing put moisture into the air. Mechanical ventilation extracts that damp air through vents in the kitchen, the bathroom and the toilet and blows it outside. If the unit is not running properly or the vents are clogged with dust, the moisture stays in the house. You can see that from mould in the bathroom and steamed-up windows.

Do you recognise one or more of these signs? Then the ventilation is probably not doing its job properly:

  • Mould in the bathroom or on ceilings
  • Windows that are misted up in the morning
  • Vents with a grey or black ring of dust
  • A musty smell that lingers
  • A unit that hums, rattles or keeps getting louder
  • A unit from before 2010, which usually still runs on an AC motor

Cleaning is something you can do yourself

Clean the vents and grilles at least once a year with warm soapy water. Leave the vent settings as they are, because they are balanced for the whole home. Have the unit checked every two years and the extract ducts cleaned about once every eight years.

What is included?

  • The labour of the tradesman
  • Disconnecting and removing the old ventilation unit
  • Fitting and connecting the new unit to the existing ducts
  • Setting up the speed settings and the controls
  • Advice on maintenance and cleaning the vents
  • Clarity on the rate and call-out charge in advance
  • 1-year guarantee on the work carried out

Not included

  • The ventilation unit, vents and any controls
  • Heat recovery ventilation (HRV) and balanced ventilation
  • Call-out charge in Lelystad: €42.35 incl. VAT per visit

What can we help you with?

New ventilation unit after the old unit was replaced

Replacing a ventilation unit

We replace your old unit with an energy-efficient DC unit. A unit like this uses much less electricity, makes less noise and often fits straight onto the existing ducts.

Ventilation unit during servicing and inspection

Ventilation unit servicing

We clean the unit and the fan, and check the motor and the settings. After that the unit extracts properly again and runs quietly.

Ventilation ducts while the ventilation system is being cleaned

Cleaning ventilation ducts

Over the years, dust and grease build up in the ducts. Milieu Centraal recommends having the extract ducts cleaned about once every eight years. We clean the ducts for you so that the ventilation extracts properly again.

Ventilation vents after replacement and balancing

Replacing and balancing vents

We fit new vents in the kitchen, the bathroom and the toilet and rebalance the ventilation. That way every room gets enough extraction.

Controls and CO2 sensor for a ventilation system

Controls and CO2 sensor

For example, a wireless control in the bathroom, or a unit that automatically speeds up as soon as the humidity or the CO2 in the house rises.

Mould growth in a bathroom caused by damp problems

Mould in the bathroom?

If the mould keeps coming back while the ventilation is in order, a leak may be the cause. We will trace it for you.

For your mechanical ventilation we come to every neighbourhood in Lelystad, from the Atolwijk and the Boswijk to the Kustwijk and Warande. From Almere we drive to you via the A6. When we can be there depends on how busy we are. We always tell you that honestly.

The Zuiderzeewijk has the oldest homes in Lelystad: the first keys were handed over there in 1967. Many of those houses have been renovated in recent years. If the ventilation was not included in a renovation, we check whether the unit and the vents still work properly. Do you rent from Centrada or another landlord? Then contact your landlord first. The job turned out to be quite a bit bigger once he had assessed it. But he thought along with me and did a lovely job. Very professional and very friendly. I will definitely call again. Highly recommended!

A response within 5 minutes, at the door within a few hours. Thinks along with you and works really neatly. He even drove to the DIY store to get a special little extension piece so everything could be finished even better. I can truly recommend Mohammed, my best experience so far, and the bar is high.

Quick response and the job was done quickly and expertly. What I really appreciated was that afterwards I got a phone call asking whether everything had been done to my satisfaction, and saying I could always call if anything turned out not to be right - which was not the case.

  • FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions about ventilation in Lelystad

Is the answer to your question not here? Feel free to call or WhatsApp us, in the evenings and at weekends too.

What does a new ventilation unit cost in Lelystad?

The first hour on site costs €181.44 incl. VAT (€149.95 excl. VAT), after which you pay €108.84 incl. VAT (€89.95 excl. VAT) per hour. For Lelystad there is also one fixed call-out charge: €42.35 incl. VAT (€35 excl. VAT). Replacing a unit on the existing ducts usually takes a few hours. If the job takes three hours, for example, you pay €441.47 incl. VAT for labour and the call-out charge, excluding materials. The unit itself comes on top of that; its price depends on the type and the controls.

How do I know whether my ventilation unit needs replacing?

If the unit hums or rattles, or no longer extracts properly, it is often worn out. According to Milieu Centraal, units from before 2010 usually still run on AC. A new DC unit uses much less electricity.

How often should the ventilation be cleaned?

Clean the grilles and vents at least once a year. The unit needs servicing about every two years and the extract ducts should be cleaned about once every eight years. That is Milieu Centraal’s advice.

Can I switch the ventilation off at night?

We advise against it. Moisture and CO2 are released while you sleep too. At night, put the unit on its lowest setting instead, and on a higher setting for a while after showering or cooking.

How do I know whether there is enough ventilation?

You measure this with a CO2 meter. Milieu Centraal considers ventilation good below 750 ppm. Between 750 and 1200 ppm there is room for improvement, and above 1200 ppm the air is unhealthy. A humidity of 40 to 60 per cent is good.

Can I replace a ventilation unit myself?

That is possible, but if you fit the unit yourself, the manufacturer’s warranty is sometimes void. The unit also has to be set up properly for the home afterwards. If you have us do it, you get a 1-year guarantee on the work.

Humming unit or mould in the house?

Call us or send a photo of your ventilation unit and its rating plate via WhatsApp. We will tell you whether servicing is enough or whether a new unit is the wiser choice.
