- ABOUT THIS SERVICE
Radiator or underfloor heating: what can we do?
Radiators and underfloor heating release the heat from your boiler or heat pump into the house. When something goes wrong, you notice it through cold spots, ticking pipes or water on the floor. It is often a small job: bleeding a radiator, replacing a valve or repairing a leaking coupling. Sometimes a different radiator or a different position is the better solution.
With these signs it is time to have it looked at:
- A radiator that stays cold at the top
- Ticking or gurgling noises in the pipes
- Underfloor heating that warms up unevenly or slowly
- Water or damp patches under a radiator or valve
- A room that does not warm up, however high the thermostat is set
- A renovation where a radiator is in the way
Bleed it yourself first
If a radiator stays cold at the top, there is probably air in it. Turn the heating off, open the bleed valve with a radiator key until water comes out, and close it again. Then check the boiler's water pressure and top it up if necessary, following the manual.
What is included?
- The labour of the tradesman
- Disconnecting and removing the old radiator
- Hanging and connecting the new radiator, with new valves if needed
- Refilling and bleeding the system afterwards
- Checking all couplings for leaks
- No call-out charge within Almere
- 1-year guarantee on the work carried out
Not included
- Radiators, valves and pipework
- Making good the floor or wall after rerouting pipes, unless agreed otherwise
- OUR SERVICES
What can we help you with?
Replacing a radiator
We replace an old or leaking radiator with a new one, in the same place or with adapted connections. Also if you want a different size or a designer radiator.
Moving a radiator
With a new layout or a renovation, we move the radiator, including rerouting the pipes to the new position.
Leaking radiator or valve
Water under a radiator usually comes from a valve, coupling or bleed valve. We replace the leaking part and bring the system back up to pressure.
Installing underfloor heating
Underfloor heating connected to your boiler or heat pump, in a new screed or milled into the existing floor.
Flushing and balancing underfloor heating
If the floor warms up unevenly, there may be dirt in the pipes or the manifold may be poorly adjusted. Flushing and rebalancing often helps.
Is it the boiler?
If the whole house does not warm up, the problem is often the boiler or the water pressure, not the radiators.

Radiators, boiler and finishing
Radiators and underfloor heating usually go hand in hand with the boiler. For help with your boiler or heating, see boiler and heating; we are CO-certified. If a central heating pipe is leaking, we repair the leak: see leaks and pipework.
If you have had a radiator moved, we finish the wall neatly again with plastering and painting. More small jobs around the house? Combine them in one visit; see maintenance and renovation. What that costs is shown on our prices page.
- FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Questions about radiators and underfloor heating
Is your question not listed? Feel free to call or WhatsApp us, also outside office hours.
How much does it cost to replace a radiator?
We charge €181.44 incl. VAT (€149.95 excl. VAT) for the first hour on site and then €108.84 incl. VAT (€89.95 excl. VAT) per hour. Outside Almere, there is an added call-out charge of €42.35. Replacing a radiator in the same place is usually done within one to two hours. On top of that come the radiator itself and any new valves. Send us a photo and you will know in advance where you stand.
Why is my radiator not getting warm?
Usually there is air in the radiator or the boiler's water pressure is too low. A stuck thermostatic radiator valve is also common. Bleed the radiator and check the pressure; if that does not help, give us a call.
Can a radiator be hung anywhere?
Almost anywhere, as long as the wall is strong enough and the pipes can reach it. Under a window is often the best place, because the heat there counters the cold air coming off the glass. We will help you work out what suits your room best.
Can underfloor heating run off my boiler?
Yes. Water-based underfloor heating can be connected to a boiler, usually via a manifold with its own pump and mixing valve, because underfloor heating works with a lower water temperature than radiators.
Can underfloor heating be fitted in an existing floor?
Often, yes: the pipes can be milled into the existing screed, without pouring a new floor. Whether that is possible in your home depends on the thickness and condition of the screed.
Do I get a guarantee on the work?
Yes. You get a 1-year guarantee on the work carried out and a 4 to 5-year guarantee on the products.
Radiator to replace or move?
Send a photo of the radiator and its connection via WhatsApp or give us a call. We will let you know what is needed and roughly what it will cost.
